We are happy to announce the 11th edition of the Ski Opening Weekend, with optional Alpine Race or Technique Training as well as the famous “EIB alpine championships 2015” !!!
Please note that registrations for this event are now closed
Highlights:
When : 2 – 6 December 2015
Where : Pitztal, Austria (Tyrol)
Hotel : Hotel Seppl (St. Leonhard, www.hotel-seppl.com, Weisswald 41 A-6481 St. Leonhard, T: +43541386220)
Location:
The Pitztal Glacier resort (www.pitztal.com) offers skiing up to an elevation of 3440m, making it one of the highest in Europe, usually with fine snow conditions by early December. The trip will encompass 3.5 days of skiing, with accommodation in the village of St Leonhard at the base of the Pitztal glacier lifts.
Hotel:
Our well-known four-star Seppl Hotel (www.hotel-seppl.com) offers single, double and family apartment suites, halfboard with breakfast buffet and five course-dinner, as well as a wellness center with indoor and heated outdoor pool, saunas, steambath, infrared cabin, whirlpool and fitness room.
Training:
The optional training sessions will be provided by professional coaches from the Tiroler Skischule in Pitztal.
- Race training will be held on a race track on the glacier, that will be equipped with giant slalom posts for us. Depending on the conditions, we will also be able to train for special slalom. You have the choice between 4 days of race training (Thu & Friday full day + Sat & Sun 1/2 days) or two days (Thu & Friday full day). The training includes coaching and evening video analysis (bring a USB stick to copy the video if you want).
- The technique training will be held on the glacier as well as on the other slopes of the resort. You have the choice between 4 days of training (Thu & Friday full day + Sat & Sun 1/2 days) or two days (Thu & Friday full day). Please note that we cannot guarantee to give technique training to everyone. In particular, if the ski level of some participants is too different from the others, we may ask those persons to take individual lessons rather than group lessons. In order to be able to organise the groups, please tell us you skiing level (Beginner, Intermediate, Expert / number of alpine ski years).
As usual, we will also organise the famous “EIB alpine championships 2015” (Christoph Gleitsmann race) on Saturday morning, a giant slalom (f/m) open to everyone. After the race, the training continues.
Travel:
Pitztal is located in Northern Tyrol, approximately a 7.5 hour drive time from Luxembourg. We will rent a bus, which we definitely recommend to take, as this has been proven to be more safe & relaxing than self-driving. It is also a good opportunity to start bonding with colleagues as from the departure in Luxembourg. The trip will start at Kirchberg on Wednesday lunchtime and will depart from Pitztal on Sunday early afternoon, arriving late evening in Kirchberg, thus allowing for 3.5 days of skiing.
Note that the cost of the bus is shared by everyone in the group, whether you make use of the bus or not.
